Anticipatory Action

Cause details

 (Emergency Preparedness and Response)

In our new thrust to empower our beneficiaries and the communities, Simukai will invest in developing Anticipatory Action Frameworks (AAF) to weather, climate and other hazards for the protection of humanitarian and development gains, with integration of GBV prevention and child protection standards.

This calls for total transformation of the approach from being responsive to being proactive in empowering Programme participants and communities in mitigating the negative effects of climate change and other hazards.

Given the now unpredictable weather and climatic conditions in our areas of operation it is best for both the organisation and Programme participants to be well prepared in advance by coming up with Anticipatory Action Frameworks that are well funded. This calls for partnering with like-minded organisations that have experience in addressing issues of disaster preparedness and response, climate change and addressing hunger within areas of operation.

More importantly there is a need for a new shift in how the organisation, Programme participants and the communities relate with the natural environment. The need to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with the natural environment has become more critical given the negative effects of climate change on our Programme participants and communities.
